© Paul Conrad/Pablo Conrad Photography Rebuilding his home after it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, Larry Nicosia installs floor joists atop the pylons. Nicosia said he left for Tallahassee, Fla., when Hurricane Katrina reached Category 5. He said after the hurricane came ashore he was curious how his home faired. "I looked on the internet to find a way back," he said, "and, when I came across the Green Bridge (across the East Pearl River), I saw my sofa stuck it it. I knew right there we were in trouble. In a way it was good the hurricane wiped (my home) out completely, it was easier to clean up."
